Highlands Ranch Mansion Reservation Lottery for 2012 Events
For 2012 events to be held after June 1, a reservation lottery system will be used that gives Highlands Ranch residents the first opportunity to book private events at the Mansion through January 31, 2013. The Metro District staff will accept applications for the reservation lottery Wednesday, September 14 through September 30, 2011.  The lottery drawing will be held October 3, 2011. Highlands Ranch Mansion Website Launched
The Highlands Ranch Metro District has launched a website for the Highlands Ranch Mansion. The new website address is www.highlandsranchmansion.com. The website’s homepage features the Mansion’s new logo, dynamic rotating photos and quick links to Mansion news and upcoming deadlines.

The new site is designed to introduce the public to one of Colorado’s premiere historic facilities and home to future community and private events. Those interested in booking a wedding, special event, business meeting or private party at the Mansion can preview photos of the property, learn about its history, and view a calendar of events on the new website. A Get Involved tab also provides information for those interested in volunteering at the Mansion once it is open to the public next summer.

“We are excited to announce the launch of the Mansion’s new website,” said Metro District General Manager Terry Nolan. “It signals a new chapter is beginning in the history of the Mansion and we at the Metro District are so proud to be stewards of this community treasure.”

The Metro District is currently renovating the 120-year-old Mansion. Once the renovation is complete in June 2012, the Mansion will be a focal point in the community where residents can gather, celebrate and experience the lifestyle of years gone by at this western estate.   The Metro District will initially use a lottery system to book private events as noted above.

Parking Lot and Utilities Update

Grading operations are wrapping up and should be completed by Friday, September 9. The next phase will involve curb and gutter along the entry drives and parking lot, followed by paving in early October.  All areas disturbed by construction will have topsoil replaced and will be reseeded with native grasses.  Temporary gates will be placed at the entries upon the completion of paving, with permanent gates installed in conjunction with landscape improvements. The installation of water and sewer extensions has also been completed and areas disturbed by this construction will also be reseeded this fall.

Renovation Update
Exterior work is in full swing with the repair to wood surfaces and masonry underway. Once the repair and restoration has been completed, all surfaces previously painted will receive a new coat of paint.  Wooden porches on the west and north side of the Mansion have suffered over the years from poor drainage and aging, resulting in a considerable amount of rotting. These porches, originally constructed in 1930, are being repaired and structurally reinforced for safety reasons. The contract for interior renovation was approved on August 30 and activities will proceed in mid-September and continue until spring 2012.
